LDA Montgomery County
Dear Members of LDAMD/MC,
Over the last year, LDA has worked hard to:
*Advocate on Capital Hill to promote awareness to representatives from 12 states on the importance of policy and equity of standards in special education
*Participate in Community outreach with organizations such as: Transitions Working Group, Montgomery County Special Education Division, College Living Experience, Montgomery College, and Committee of Educational Funding
*Educate members all year long on cutting edge topics in special education and best practices by consistently offering online and in person opportunities on our website
*Engage and empower adults 21 and older in our social group: HangOut Hive where members with learning disabilities come together to support and enjoy each other’s company while being coached on various life skills by facilitators
2023 was a spectacular year of joy, enriching opportunities for growth, and unity for LDA, and we can’t wait to join with you in this New Year of 2024 to grow even further together in the spirit of inclusion and dignity for all of our members!
Happy New Year to all, and thank you for your membership! We hope that you enjoy the pictures of members and their families as they celebrated at their LDA Holiday Party!
Please note, that this year, in 2024, in an effort to include all counties in the work that LDA does, the website will change to LDAMD.
With gratitude,
Kelly Tanzi, President, LDAMC and LDAMD
The Learning Disabilities Association of Montgomery County strives to support the education and general welfare of all individuals with learning disabilities, their families, and professionals living in the Montgomery County community and now expanded to include all of Maryland.
We communicate with our community through social media and an on-line newsletter and calendar of community events.
We support our community by sponsoring social groups for individuals with LD and parents of children with LD, mentoring for teachers of students with LD, providing one-on-one support via our helpline, and sharing up-to-date professional resource lists of local service providers.
We educate our community by producing and coordinating programs and events such as workshops, an annual conference, and member social events.
What do you get when you Donate to support LDAMC/MD?
